We ensure that Dutch (water)ways remain navigable and that its inhabitants stay dry in a changing climate. Your Role
As a Software Engineer, you will work on programming, testing, and commissioning PLC and/or SCADA systems on-site. You will have a lot of freedom, but also the opportunity to develop further and work with the latest technologies. A very varied job!
Not Just a Job
This job at SPIE Nederland is for a Software Engineer who can think outside the box, enjoys working in a team, but can also work well independently, and sees challenges rather than problems. As a Software Engineer, you are a technical specialist in the field of PLC/SCADA/DCS. You will be involved in designing and developing control and operating software for bridges, locks, and pumping stations. As a Software Engineer, you are responsible for the design and commissioning of the software you have developed yourself.
You will be fully engaged in:
- Drafting and elaborating the desired software specifications (often in a functional design and software design);
- Processing safety functions using safety software;
- Verification and validation testing to ensure the software functions correctly and meets the end-user's requirements.
Furthermore, you will:
- Be a technical specialist in the field of PLC/SCADA
- Be responsible for the design and commissioning of software
- Draft and elaborate the desired software specifications
- Process safety functions using safety software
- Perform verification and validation testing to ensure the software functions correctly using simulation
- Commission software on-site
- Guide/manage junior software engineers
Not Just an Employee

- You have completed a higher professional education (HBO) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial automation, or mechatronics;
- You have knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems (preferably Siemens, TIA portal, WinCC);
- You have a good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written;
- Experience in infrastructure is a plus, but not a must.
