Software Engineer SAP FICO - Finance & Controlling (S/4HANA)

About the Role

As an SAP FICO Expert, you will act as a key technical and functional authority for Finance and Controlling solutions. You will work very closely with the business departments, ensure high-quality solutions, and support the full lifecycle from design to testing and go-live.

Core Responsibilities

• Act as subject matter expert for SAP Finance and Controlling (FICO) modules in an S/4HANA environment.
• Serve as the primary interface between IT and Finance/Controlling business teams.
• Translate business requirements into robust SAP FICO solutions.
• Lead and actively support test planning, test execution, and defect resolution together with business users and SAP.
• Ensure end-to-end process integration across Finance, Controlling, and adjacent SAP modules.
• Design, configure, and optimize FI and CO processes in line with global standards.
• Support SAP RISE Migration for local ZAP system.
• Analyse incidents and change requests and provide expert-level solutions.
• Ensure system stability, performance, and compliance in productive environments.
• Support cutover, go-live, dry-run, and hyper care phases.
• Create and maintain technical and functional documentation according to BMW AWM.
• Actively contribute to continuous improvement and system optimization initiatives.

Education & Experience

• Degree in Information Technology, Business Informatics, Finance, or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of hands‑on experience in SAP FICO (expert level).
• Proven experience in S/4HANA Finance projects.
• Practical experience working in SAP RISE or cloud‑based SAP environments.
