Software Engineer V

Bridgecross LLC is seeking a Software Engineer V to support NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS). This role focuses on developing and modernizing scientific and geospatial applications supporting GNSS data systems and cloud-based platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) activities
• Develop functional and technical requirements
• Design, build, test, and deploy mission-critical applications
• Implement scientific algorithms and data processing solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Support modernization of legacy systems into cloud-based architectures
• Develop and maintain technical documentation

Required Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of software development experience
• Strong expertise in:
  • C, C++, Fortran, Java, JavaScript
  • Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Apex, Oracle Spatial
• Experience implementing scientific or mathematical algorithms
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Technical Skills

• Python and Linux shell scripting
• PostgreSQL and relational database systems
• Experience with Git, BitBucket, Subversion, and JIRA
• Experience with NetBeans or Eclipse

Cloud & AWS Experience

• Containerization (Docker, AWS ECS/Fargate)
• Messaging systems (Amazon SQS)
• Storage & hosting (Amazon S3, CloudFront)
• Networking & compute (IAM, EC2, VPC, ALB)

Preferred Qualifications

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
• Experience building RESTful APIs (Express.js preferred)
• Linux/RHEL system experience
• Experience in federal or scientific environments

Clearance Requirement

Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. US Citizen. Preference will be given to candidates with an active or recently adjudicated Public Trust.
