Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer (w/m/d), you will play a central role in the further development of our cloud solution for video surveillance of safety-critical workplaces. Cameras stream live to the cloud; the data is processed, stored, and provided in Microsoft Azure. In close collaboration with various teams, you will actively shape the digital transformation at Dräger – with a clear focus on Java-based backend services, the Angular frontend, and reliable operation in the spirit of a "you build it, you run it" approach.

Your future tasks:

• Backend Development: You will design and implement robust Java Microservices for ingesting, processing, and providing video streams. You will design APIs for internal applications and consistently integrate security and data protection requirements into the architecture.
• Frontend Development: You will further develop our Angular-based monitoring and operation UI – including dashboards, alerting, and intuitive user guidance.
• Cloud Services: You will develop, operate, and optimize cloud-based applications and services on Microsoft Azure and ensure their availability and performance.
• Automation & Operations: You will improve the platform's observability (logging, metrics, tracing), maintain CI/CD pipelines, and resolutely handle incidents based on clear runbooks.
• Architecture & Design: You will significantly contribute to the architecture and design of the systems and support troubleshooting and problem resolution during ongoing operations.
• Collaboration: You will work in a partnership with DevOps, Security, and Test teams, as well as other interfaces.

Qualifications

• Your Studies: You have completed a university degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field.
• Your Experience: You have solid experience in backend development with Java and modern frameworks (e.g., Spring).
• Tech Stack: You have practical experience with Linux and Angular in the frontend and are familiar with Azure basics for productive workloads (e.g., Kubernetes/Container, Storage, Messaging, Identities/Key Management).
• Streaming Competence: You have an understanding of streaming processes, protocols, and codecs.
• Analytical Focus: You work in a structured manner and think in terms of end-to-end quality.
• Language Skills: You communicate confidently in German and English, both written and spoken.
