Software Engineering Lead

Introduction

Our client in the retail sector is seeking to appoint a Software Engineering Lead to be based at their Cape Town office.The purpose of this role is to lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Duties & Responsibilities • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute the technical roadmap, aligning with business objectives and customer needs • Drive the design, development, and optimization of our platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security • Provide technical guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact and relevance to our business • Partner with Product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, driving alignment and execution • Implement best practices, processes, and tools to streamline development workflows and improve efficiency • Monitor and analyse platform performance metrics, identifying areas for optimization and improvement to enhance the customer experience

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. • Proven experience in software development and technical leadership roles, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices, with hands-on experience in backend and frontend development • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and modern development frameworks/tools

Development Experience: • Languages: C#, Javascript, SQL, Python, Go • Frameworks: Angular, React, .NET, .NET Core • ORM Tools: Entity Framework, Hibernate • Relational Databases: Oracle, MSSql, MySQL • Cloud Environments: Azure, AWS • Messaging/Event: Kafka
