Software Engineers (Frontend / JavaScript)

for our Euro-Office team as well as for our other engineering teams.

You will play a key role in enhancing the user interface and user experience of Nextcloud’s applications. You will work closely with the engineering team to develop and improve features across applications such as Euro Office, Files, Calendar, Contacts, and more.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an open-source environment and enjoys building modern, scalable front-end solutions. You’ll contribute to core components, help shape the user experience, and collaborate with a global contributor community.

Responsibilities:

• Software development in JavaScript and PHP with a focus on frontend technologies
• Design, development, and implementation of new user interface features and improvements
• Cross-platform testing to ensure consistent behavior across environments
• Ensure code quality and adherence to quality standards and best practices
• Conduct testing and quality assurance for new and existing features
• Work in the open on GitHub and collaborate with the community

Requirements:

• Strong experience with JavaScript and modern frontend development
• Experience with git and GitHub essential
• Experience with TechStack Canvas is desirable
• PHP experience is a plus
• Familiarity with open-source technologies and workflows
• Teamworking capabilities as well as independence and self-reliance
• Analytical thinking and a structured approach to problem-solving
• Good communication skills in English
