50Hertz Transmission GmbH

Neuenhagen bei Berlin · flexible Full-time Mid Level 1mo ago

About the role

About

Join the Product Line Grid Analysis, drive the development of products for dynamic stability assessment, and shape the Energy Management System for the digital energy transition.

Why this job is interesting:

50Hertz is developing the Next Generation Control Center Ecosystem (Modular Control Center System) to meet the increasing demands of the energy transition. As Product Owner for Dynamic Stability Assessment, I shape the technical and functional further development of applications for analyzing and assessing transient and dynamic grid phenomena. My work ensures that the power system can be operated safely and stably even under highly dynamic conditions – especially with the growing share of renewable energies. The products I am responsible for support users from (operational) system control in recognizing critical grid situations early, assessing risks, and making informed operational decisions. This allows me to make a direct contribution to system security and the integration of renewable energies. Within the Product Line Grid Analysis, highly specialized tools are being created that are used in real-time operation as well as in planning and forecasting processes and integrate seamlessly into the system control landscape of 50Hertz and Elia.

My Responsibilities:

  • Shaping and further developing the product vision and roadmap for Dynamic Stability Assessment within the context of the Next Generation Energy Platform,
  • Functional responsibility for the further development and operation (You build it, you run it) of the DSA software solutions and associated processes for 50Hertz and Elia system control,
  • Responsibility for the product backlog, including creation and prioritization of user stories and presentation of results in sprint reviews together with the team,
  • Close collaboration with developers, architects, users, and subject matter experts (e.g., from system control and grid planning) as well as with other product teams in the product cluster,
  • Active role as a communication interface between technical development teams and functional stakeholders,
  • Planning, steering, and execution of proof of concepts, MVPs, as well as evaluation and selection of suitable technical solution approaches,
  • Creation, coordination, and maintenance of roadmaps, release plans, and operating strategies for the products managed.

My Competencies:

  • Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a comparable course of study,
  • At least 3 years of professional experience as a Product Owner or in a comparable role at the interface between business and IT,
  • Very good knowledge of agile methods, especially Scrum or Scrum@Scale,
  • Experience in the development or application of software for grid calculations and analyses, ideally in the area of dynamic simulations or stability analyses,
  • Basic to in-depth understanding of dynamic grid processes, e.g., transients, control of generation units, or protection and automation functions,
  • Knowledge of grid calculations such as load flow, short circuit, or dynamic simulations,
  • Analytical and structured thinking skills, as well as a high degree of independence and initiative,
  • Ability to structure, visualize, and communicate complex technical issues in an audience-appropriate manner,
  • Strong product-oriented thinking and enjoyment of developing viable solutions together as a team,
  • Languages: Fluent German (at least C1) and very good English skills (at least B2).

Not a must, but an advantage:

  • Certifications or training in Scrum, SAFe, or comparable agile frameworks,
  • Experience with dynamic simulation tools (e.g., PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD, or comparable),
  • Knowledge of CIM/CGMES and their application in the context of grid models,
  • Experience in the field of transmission grids, system control, or grid planning.

Flexikompass - how flexible this position is:

  • Working hours: 37 hours per week (full-time),
  • Flexible working hours with a long-term account to support work-life balance,
  • The number of flextime days is not limited,
  • No core working hours,
  • Mobile working (including from home) is possible.
