Solutions Engineer — Solar & Battery Security Solutions

Gridless Power

Pennsauken · On-site Full-time Mid Level $110k – $130k/yr 1mo ago

About the role

About the Position

The Solutions Engineer (SE) will serve as the technical expert and trusted advisor for Gridless Power's solar- and battery-powered security product line. Our autonomous security platforms combine off-grid hybrid power with IP cameras, video analytics, access control, and remote monitoring — deployed where grid power and reliable connectivity don't exist: construction sites, energy infrastructure, critical infrastructure perimeters, remote facilities, and temporary installations. The SE is the strategic bridge between customers, sales, engineering, and operations — translating site conditions, surveillance requirements, and power constraints into deployable solutions. From initial scoping through site survey, system design, commissioning, and next-generation product iteration, the SE owns the technical relationship and continuously feeds market intelligence back into the product roadmap. This is a high-visibility role for someone equally comfortable in a CISO's office, on a remote jobsite configuring a camera stack, and in a design review debating battery sizing for a winter deployment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in physical security, surveillance, IP video, or a closely related technical field; experience with off-grid, solar, or battery-powered deployments preferred
  • Technical depth in IP video surveillance: camera selection, lens and FOV calculations, video transport, compression (H.264/H.265), VMS platforms, edge analytics, and cloud-managed video
  • Solid understanding of IP networking — TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VLANs, L2/L3 devices, firewalls, and low-power WAN technologies (LTE/5G, point-to-point wireless, satellite backhaul)
  • Experience supporting pre-sales for security integrators, end-users, or channel partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to present to both technical and executive audiences (CISOs, IT, physical security directors, EHS, operations leaders)
  • Detail-oriented problem solver with strong organizational skills and a self-disciplined approach to deadlines
  • Ability to balance technical aptitude with business acumen — ROI, TCO, and total-cost-vs.-guard-services modeling
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a passion for autonomous, sustainable security technology
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Energy Systems, or related technical field preferred
  • Willingness to travel 20% for customer visits, site surveys, deployments, and industry events
  • Must be independently authorized to work in the U.S. — Gridless Power is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role at this time

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Gridless Power's solar- and battery-powered security platforms, including camera ecosystems, networking, power architectures, and competitive positioning
  • Partner with the sales team to qualify opportunities, assess surveillance and power requirements, and design right-sized solutions that balance camera count, analytics load, autonomy targets, and site constraints
  • Conduct site surveys (or virtual surveys using satellite imagery, solar resource data, and customer-supplied conditions); produce camera coverage diagrams, network architectures, power budgets, and autonomy calculations
  • Work with the installation team to accurately price complex quotes, bids, and RFQs
  • Lead technical demonstrations, live system walkthroughs, and presentations tailored to physical security directors, IT, CISOs, operations leaders, and C-suite stakeholders
  • Support pilots, proof-of-concept deployments, and field commissioning — including camera configuration, VMS integration, connectivity bring-up, and acceptance testing
  • Develop and distribute technical content — application notes, deployment playbooks, integrator training, case studies, and reference designs — for customers, channel partners, and internal teams
  • Collect and synthesize customer feedback, competitive intelligence, and market trends across surveillance and off-grid power to inform product roadmap priorities
  • Represent Gridless Power at security industry events (ISC West, GSX, ASIS chapter meetings) and energy/infrastructure conferences
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure customer commitments are delivered and field-learned lessons make it back to product
  • Act as the technical liaison for security integrators, rental partners, and large strategic accounts — providing knowledge transfer and supporting complex pre-sales projects

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid parental leave
  • Generous PTO, paid holidays, and personal sick time
  • Mileage and travel reimbursement for field work
