Job Summary
The SHI Services Solutions Engineer specializing in Microsoft 365 Copilot Readiness serves as a technical advisor to clients, aiding them in assessing the readiness of their Microsoft 365 environment to securely and effectively deploy Copilot. This role requires extensive hands-on experience in managing and deploying Microsoft AI solutions within Microsoft 365. Successful candidates will possess several years of expertise in tenant configuration, security posture, information architecture, and collaboration tools, along with a thorough understanding of how Copilot interacts with Microsoft Graph, permissions, and real-world tenant usage. The Solutions Engineer oversees Copilot readiness evaluations, facilitates design-focused sessions, and shares insights with senior IT and business leaders. The emphasis will be on tenant health, data management, security, and the organization’s preparedness, essential elements for effective Copilot adoption. This position is pivotal at the crossroads of AI innovation, user experience, and responsible implementation, allowing you to influence how organizations cultivate lasting capabilities with Copilot while contributing to the growth of SHI's Microsoft Services practice.
Role Responsibilities
Microsoft 365 Copilot Readiness & Tenant Evaluation
The Solutions Engineer will evaluate customer Microsoft 365 environments to assess Copilot readiness, including:
- Evaluating Microsoft 365 tenants with respect to identity, security, compliance, and data architecture.
- Examining SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook, and other relevant workloads to understand data structuring, sharing, governance, and access mechanisms.
- Analyzing collaboration and usage behaviors to determine the potential accuracy, relevance, and safety of Copilot outputs.
- Assessing the quality of Microsoft Graph data exposure and its relevance to Copilot functionality.
- Identifying potential risks from data oversharing, outdated permissions, unmanaged information, and disorganized data architecture.
- Reviewing controls related to Entra, Purview, Defender to promote least-privilege access, data protection, and compliance.
- Providing clear, actionable recommendations based on Copilot readiness assessments with prioritized remediation steps.
Client Engagement & Workshop Facilitation
In addition to technical assessments, this role involves deep customer engagement and advisory functions, such as:
- Leading discovery sessions and design-focused workshops centered on Copilot readiness and data exposure risks.
- Facilitating structured discussions with stakeholders from IT, security, compliance, and business sectors.
- Utilizing visual tools and structured techniques to reveal assumptions, risks, and readiness gaps.
- Guiding clients in weighing the tradeoffs between security, data openness, and Copilot benefits.
- Creating a collective understanding of what needs attention before Copilot deployment.

Skill Level Requirements
- Several years’ experience in administering Microsoft 365 tenants, focusing on security posture and information architecture.
- A practical understanding of the dependency of Microsoft 365 Copilot on Microsoft Graph and tenant behavior.
- Knowledge of tenant-level risk factors such as data oversharing, outdated access, and fragmented collaboration.
- Proven ability to lead comprehensive engagements across discovery, design, technical enablement, adoption, and outcome measurement for Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI solutions.
- Strong judgment balancing innovation with security and organizational readiness.
- Confidence and professionalism in client engagements and workshops.
- Able to work independently while collaborating with various teams.
- Curiosity and adaptability in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
- A commitment to continuous learning about Microsoft Copilot and best practices in change and adoption.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $150,000 - $207,000, inclusive of base salary and bonuses, and varies based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. Benefits include medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending options.
