About the role

Ascension LLC is seeking a highly experienced Solutions / Integration Architect to lead the technical design and integration strategy for a Proof of Concept (POC) focused on modernizing legacy systems (IBM FileNet/DataCap) into a cloud-based Microsoft ecosystem.

This role is critical to the success of the engagement, responsible for designing a scalable, secure, and integrated architecture that connects:

  • Oracle EBS (inventory, validation, order processing)
  • Azure Document Intelligence (OCR/ICR, metadata extraction)
  • SharePoint Embedded (document storage, versioning, retrieval)
  • Custom Web Applications (React-based UI and workflow orchestration)

The ideal candidate is a hands-on architect and systems thinker who can translate business workflows into end-to-end technical solutions, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security across systems.

This role directly supports the client’s goal of validating a modern, cloud-first replacement for legacy document and workflow systems, making it foundational to future enterprise modernization efforts.

Position Summary

The Solutions / Integration Architect will design and oversee the implementation of a cloud-based WebApp and document processing ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration between enterprise systems and Microsoft technologies.

This individual will:

  • Define end-to-end system architecture
  • Establish data flows, API contracts, and security models (SSO)
  • Design workflow automation for order submission, approval, and document processing
  • Guide development teams in implementing scalable, maintainable solutions

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Design end-to-end cloud architecture for WebApp, document processing, and integration layers
  • Define and document system architecture diagrams, data flows, and integration patterns
  • Architect integrations between:
    • Oracle EBS (data retrieval, validation, stored procedures)
    • Azure Document Intelligence (OCR/ICR processing)
    • SharePoint Embedded (document storage, metadata, versioning)
  • Establish API contracts and interface specifications for system interoperability
  • Design and implement workflow architecture for:
    • Order submission and approval routing
    • Document ingestion, classification, and indexing
    • Resubmission and version control processes
  • Define security architecture, including:
    • SSO integration (Azure AD)
    • Role-based access control (RBAC)
    • Data protection and compliance considerations
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure alignment with architecture and best practices
  • Conduct technical design reviews and validation sessions with stakeholders
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and performance bottlenecks
  • Support POC demonstrations and validation of use cases
  • Ensure solutions align with scalability, maintainability, and enterprise standards

Minimum / Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
  • 8–12+ years of experience in solutions architecture and system integration
  • Demonstrated experience designing cloud-based enterprise architectures (Azure preferred)
  • Strong experience integrating with ERP systems (Oracle EBS or similar)
  • Experience with SharePoint Online / SharePoint Embedded / Microsoft 365 architecture
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • REST APIs and system integration patterns
    • Data modeling and metadata architecture
    • Workflow automation frameworks
  • Experience designing secure enterprise solutions (SSO, RBAC, identity management)
  • Familiarity with OCR/ICR or document processing technologies
  • Proven ability to lead architecture in short-duration POCs or agile environments

Certifications (Preferred but not required):

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
  • PMP or Agile certification (PMI-ACP, Scrum)

Desired / Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience replacing or modernizing legacy ECM systems (FileNet, DataCap, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Azure Document Intelligence (Form Recognizer)
  • Experience with React-based application architectures
  • Knowledge of Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) for workflow integration
  • Experience implementing document lifecycle management and metadata-driven search
  • Prior experience supporting government or public sector clients
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex architectures to non-technical stakeholders

Suitability / Security Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency preferred

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour
