Adecco is currently hiring a Senior Technical Writer for a full-time 3-year contract opportunity in Gatineau. This role is ideal for a highly detail-oriented bilingual technical writer with strong experience in A&E documentation who enjoys analyzing complex technical materials, ensuring translation accuracy, and producing high-quality official publications in a regulated environment. In this position, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and validating technical A&E documentation in both English and French while ensuring compliance with Government of Canada and departmental standards. This role is initially hybrid, with a transition to 100% onsite work expected.

  • Salary: $75,000 to $125,000 annually
  • Location: Gatineau, QC (Hybrid initially, 100% onsite expected)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Employment Type: Full-time | 3-year contract

Responsibilities

  • Analyze written materials to summarize and generate technical content for official Ammunition & Explosives (A&E) publications including technical specifications, manuals, user guides, and drawings
  • Modify, validate, and verify translated A&E technical documentation in both English and French
  • Compile and update technical documentation including specifications, equipment data lists, system documentation, and drawings while ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards
  • Gather and analyze technical information by interacting with technical authorities and industry stakeholders as required
  • Research existing materials and generate clear, accurate, and concise technical content
  • Ensure technical A&E documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with approved standards
  • Prepare technical manuals, specifications, and supporting documentation following Government of Canada publishing guidelines
  • Review A&E documents, drawings, and associated data to ensure compliance with established standards
  • Use word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing, and graphic software tools to produce final and camera-ready documents
  • Prepare and submit required technical deliverables including A&E CFTOs and other official publications

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work and reside within Canada
  • Must be fully bilingual in English and French (spoken, written, and reading)
  • Must hold a valid Secret level security clearance
  • Minimum 24 months of experience within the last 120 months preparing or updating Ammunition & Explosives (A&E) technical documentation
  • Minimum 24 months of experience reviewing, modifying, or validating English and French translations of A&E technical documentation
  • Must be able to clearly demonstrate experience working with technical translations between English and French
  • Minimum 24 months of experience working specifically with A&E technical orders or related documentation
  • Must hold one or more of the following qualifications: Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO) (AEXN), Ammo Engineer (AEXO), or Qualification Level (QL) 6 Ammunition Technician / Ammunition Life Cycle certification
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with highly technical regulated documentation
  • Experience working within structured government or defence environments is an asset
