About The Role

The Special Project Working Foreman / Construction Manager is the Frontline business manager for the Special Projects department and responsible for all on-site project activity assigned to the department. Special projects are defined as any project which falls outside standard O&M scope, requires special skill sets or is too large in scope and scale for the O&M teams to complete.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Read, understand and sign all safety procedures.
  • Ensure every employee within the reporting structure attends weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure employees within the reporting structure have received all required PPE.
  • Ensure employees within the reporting structure attend all required safety training.
  • Ensure employees within reporting structure, have read, understood and signed all safety procedures.
  • Ensure every safety incident is reported timely and accurately.
  • Ensure every safety incident is fully investigated, documented and corrective actions are implemented.
  • In collaboration with the O&M leadership and the VP of Special Projects, define and foster a strong EHS culture at Cleanleaf.
  • In collaboration with O&M leadership and the VP of Special Projects, define the standard PPE type, make, and quantity provided to the field employees.
  • In collaboration with O&M leadership and the VP of Special Projects, define the minimum EHS training required for each field employee.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities

The Following Activities Are Performed On a Daily Basis

  • Demonstrate integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis.
  • Hire, supervise, lead and train all direct reports, meeting regularly to review their progress in meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives
  • Ensure that work being performed meets or exceeds Cleanleaf standards.
  • Ensure that the Cleanleaf O&M department is meeting all contractual obligations. (i.e. meeting terms and conditions outlined in each signed Special Project contract.)
  • Ensure that Cleanleaf is meeting all local, state and federal regulations required to complete each signed contract.
  • Track and report to both management and customers on the progress of pending work, work in progress, completed work and invoicing status for each project.
  • Coordinate with Regional Managers to identify potential projects within Cleanleaf’s O&M fleet.
  • Respond to and resolve customer requests (e.g. warranty claims, site upgrades, technical support etc.).
  • Scope, price, develop and submit proposals to customers for special projects.
  • Obtain quotes, develop and submit PO’s for subcontracted work within the Salesforce platform.
  • Manage the cost of ongoing projects to ensure that they are within defined budgets.
  • Develop an annual Special Projects budget and plan against which to track progress.
  • Coordinate with Accounting to develop and submit invoicing on a monthly basis.
  • Review and comment on Case documentation to ensure that Cleanleaf O&M standards are met and the customer receives a complete and detailed report.
  • Work closely with BD on new opportunities and customer feedback as well as forecasting future revenue.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts with customers and vendors in relation to special projects
  • Assess resource requirements for the team required to execute sales and project executions strategy. Effectively communicate the resource requirements to the Field Operations leadership and/or Special Projects leadership.
  • Develop and implement tools required to scale the Special Projects Team with using consistent data-driven metrics, reporting tools, and customer-facing reporting.
  • Work cross-departmentally to facilitate resource requirements from engineering, Systems Performance Group, Legal, EPC, etc as needed to complete special projects.
  • Demonstrate integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis.
  • Supervise, lead, and train any superintendents, Electricians, and temporary/contract employees assigned to work in Special Projects .
  • Perform Corrective Maintenance on solar and battery installations in accordance with Cleanleaf, customer, and OEM standards, ensuring that the root cause has been identified and corrected.
  • Ensure that work being performed in the area meets or exceeds Cleanleaf O&M standards.
  • Complete assigned tasks safely, correctly, and within the allotted time.
  • Ensure all PPE, tools, and equipment assigned to the employee are accounted for, maintained in good condition, repaired or replaced as required.
  • Interface with SCADA/DAS systems to understand onsite issues with the ability to communicate to both management and customers.
  • Correctly document all work in a Service Visit and Case within Cleanleaf’s CMMS. Correct documentation includes proper grammar and spelling, photography, thermal photography, and completion of checklists.
  • Provide technical support for customer issues as requested.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities may be determined by Field Operations leadership and/or the VP of Special Projects.

Required Skills And Experience

  • Valid driver’s license is required at all times. Must clear a pre-employment MVR and drug screening.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • AC/DC Electrical Construction Knowledge
  • Proven experience as business manager, construction manager, or other relevant role.
  • Ability to communicate in English both orally and writing.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and project management.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, Word and CMMS systems.
  • Proven experience understanding and implementing OSHA regulations.

Working conditions

A Special Projects Working Foreman / Construction Manager will be required to work under the following conditions:

  • May be required to travel up to 60% of the time.
  • Required to travel by Plane to serve business needs.
  • Required to drive a vehicle to serve business needs.
  • Required to work in office conditions.
  • Required to be in the assigned area for projects out of state.
  • Required to work in field conditions as needed.
  • Work in a fast changing environment which may require quick decisions with limited processes and procedures.

Physical requirements

This Position Has The Following Physical Requirements

  • Ability to drive a vehicle.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk distances up to 5 miles in a day.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The targeted pay scale for this role is $50/hr-$64/hr. Actual compensation will be based on an assessment of factors including the successful candidate's experience, skill, and other job-related factors.
