Job Description

Senior Storage & Backup Infrastructure Automation Engineer

• Perform primarily engineering (documentation, standards, guides, processes and procedures, solution design, life cycle management, support capacity management) tasks for the development and embedment of the Compute Storage and Backup services in the public Cloud Strategically AWS Secondarily Azure
• In addition to engineering, perform Level 2 support for clients of the services in the public cloud
• Leverage automation skills in infrastructure as code tooling like Terraform, Git, GitHub, Powershell, Python to implement and maintain code for IaC, custom APIs, web reporting interfaces, and self-service portals.
• Write and maintain code in .NET C# plugins to manage and maintain Password Access Management integration with the Beyond Insight Password Safe
• Investigate the use of AI to enhance the Compute service offerings in general

Outcomes

• Produce documentation, implement, maintain and support Backup and Storage service offerings in line with the Playbooks developed for AWS
• Create and maintain standards for service configuration
• Create and maintain user guides and procedures to assist users (technical) as well as service support engineers for the consumption and management of the service: Provisioning, Monitoring, Restoration, Disaster Recovery
• Implement, maintain, and enhance service level monitoring: Status, Compliance, Consumption/usage
• Implement, maintain and enhance service level alerting: Incident management system integration, Standardised alerting for users
• Develop, test, and maintain Infrastructure as Code templates and patterns
• Support the extension of the on-premises Backup and Storage services into public cloud, enhancing the native Backup service offering
• Design and plan, Document, Implement, Using Infrastructure as Code
• Maintain, Monitor, Enhance, Automate
• Enhance Backup and Storage services by implementing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and Automation across all the technologies in the service: Provisioning, De-provisioning, Monitoring, Reporting

Experience Required

• Minimum of 5 years Experience in BackUp and Storage
• Have extensive knowledge of AWS, S3, AWS Backup and CloudWatch
• AWS certification (associate or professional)
• Have the ability to mentor, document and train other team members.
