Role Overview

The Specialist Scrum Master plays a critical role in enabling high‑performing, cross‑functional Agile teams to deliver value consistently and predictably. This role serves as a servant leader and delivery facilitator, ensuring Agile principles are effectively applied while supporting teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Agile Delivery & Team Enablement

  • Facilitate Agile delivery across multiple projects and teams, ensuring alignment to Scrum and broader Agile principles.
  • Coach and support teams to become self‑organising, accountable, and continuously improving.
  • Motivate and inspire teams to reach their full potential and foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust.

Scrum & Agile Practice

  • Plan, facilitate, and optimise core Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Guide teams in applying Agile frameworks and practices to deliver high‑quality, incremental business value.
  • Remove impediments and proactively address blockers that impact delivery and flow.

Product & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Support Product Owners in effective backlog management, prioritisation, and refinement.
  • Act as a key interface between delivery teams, Product Owners, and customers to ensure expectations are understood and met.
  • Assist in translating business requirements and product vision into clear, actionable work for delivery teams.

Delivery Management & Governance

  • Take accountability for end‑to‑end delivery execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Track and report on delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and capacity using agreed Agile metrics and dashboards.
  • Identify delivery risks early and implement mitigation strategies to keep initiatives on track.
  • Ensure adherence to change management processes and governance frameworks.

Reporting & Capacity Management

  • Produce clear and concise delivery reporting for stakeholders, including weekly and monthly updates.
  • Monitor team capacity and workload to optimise utilisation while preventing burnout.
  • Support programme and senior management with accurate, timely insight into delivery performance.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Formal Agile training and certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe certification, or similar.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master in an IT or digital delivery environment.
  • Experience working with distributed and cross‑functional teams.
  • Exposure to telco or financial services environments is advantageous.
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery and project tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, and Excel.
