SQL and Data Base Engineer

A specialised data analytics firm serving the FMCG sector is looking for a meticulous SQL and Data Base Engineer to oversee their database operations and reporting functions. The successful candidate will take full ownership of monthly data lifecycles, ensuring that complex datasets are processed accurately to provide actionable insights for industry -leading clients. This is a full -time, permanent position requiring a blend of mathematical precision and advanced programming capability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end -to -end processing and integration of new monthly data sets to maintain database integrity.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated reports that translate big data into strategic business intelligence.
• Lead database engineering tasks to optimise SQL and Postgres environments for large -scale analytics.
• Monitor data quality and troubleshoot inconsistencies within the FMCG data pipeline.
• Collaborate with the internal team to refine data models and improve reporting efficiency.

Requirements

• A completed Degree or Postgraduate qualification with a heavy focus on Mathematics and Computer Science.
• Proven experience in database engineering and big data management.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex trends within the FMCG industry.
• Ability to work a standard 40 -hour week (8 hours per day).
• South African citizenship or valid permanent work residency.

Required Software Skills

• Advanced SQL and Postgres database management.
• Power BI for data visualisation and dashboarding.
• Python for data manipulation and automation.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
