Your role as Backend Developer

Als Senior Back-end Developer (SQL Server) ben jij verantwoordelijk voor de ruggengraat van onze data-infrastructuur. Je ontwerpt en onderhoudt robuuste datamodellen en zorgt ervoor dat grote hoeveelheden meetdata betrouwbaar en efficiënt worden verwerkt. Je schrijft en optimaliseert complexe T-SQL queries, stored procedures en table-valued functions en je bouwt ETL-processen en integraties voor data- en kwaliteitscontroles.

Daarnaast houd je je bezig met performance-optimalisatie: je analyseert execution plans, past indexering toe en lost knelpunten structureel op. Datakwaliteit, traceability en betrouwbaarheid zijn voor jou geen bijzaak maar vanzelfsprekend. Je werkt intensief samen met analisten, monsterspecialisten en collega-developers om inhoudelijke vragen te vertalen naar stabiele, testbare software. Ook ondersteun je de Excel-VBA front-end met goed gedocumenteerde back-end services.

Je werkt niet aan losse applicaties, maar aan één centraal en schaalbaar platform dat continu doorontwikkeld wordt. Where you'll work

Je komt te werken bij het Instrument Connect (IC)-team binnen AQUON. Binnen het IC-team werk je samen met een functioneel analist en front-end ontwikkelaars. Ook is er ondersteuning vanuit de applicatie beheerders en de verschillende adviseurs. Het IC-team is een leuk, enthousiast team waarin iedereen klaarstaat voor elkaar. • The position of programmer is classified in scale 10 of the CAO Werken voor Waterschappen. Depending on your experience, the salary will be determined, with a gross monthly salary between €4,313 and €5,848 per month based on 36 hours (maximum annual salary of €84,912 including a 21% individual choice budget).
• Possibility to work hybrid with associated travel and/or home working allowance.
• A good pension scheme with ABP.

We offer you a one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent contract.

What we ask of you

You are an experienced back-end developer who likes to take ownership and wants to deepen your knowledge. You recognize yourself in the following:

• Bachelor's work and thinking level (Informatics, Software Engineering, or comparable).
• At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.
• Strong in data modeling and relational databases.
• Very good knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Strong analytical skills, independent, and quality-oriented.

Nice to have:

• Experience with (or affinity for) Excel VBA.
• Microsoft SQL Server certifications.
• A mathematical or statistical background.

What does the process look like?

Due to the senior nature of this role, an assessment/case and multiple interviews are part of the procedure:

• Practice-oriented assignment (you will receive this prior to the first interview).
• First interview: presentation of your approach and results.
• Second interview: meeting with other team members immediately after your first interview.
• Third interview: meeting with the project leader and department manager.
