This is a full‑remote position, available to candidates in the United States, Canada, California (USA) and Nevada (USA). The role can be hybrid and hired in Nevada or Northern California. As a Sr. Cybersecurity Advisor (also called Sr. Portfolio Security Advisor) you will serve as a trusted partner to Optiv’s strategic clients, combining sales skills and broad security practitioner knowledge to design security solutions for assigned clients in the Greater Las Vegas area. You will advise and design highly defensible, scalable security programs using advanced services and technologies, and collaborate with domain specialists and partners to deliver thought‑leadership‑driven cybersecurity solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the generation of services and technologies business to meet or exceed quarterly and annual quota objectives in partnership with the account and domain teams, following Optiv’s Standardized Sales Operating Processes (SOPs).
  • Understand and maintain knowledge of the client’s security environment, business operations, security needs, and risk appetite; identify security concerns and align them with Optiv’s strategic solutions.
  • Identify cross‑sell and upsell opportunities across clients and Optiv’s partner relationships; qualify leads, partner with internal colleagues for scope and proposal management, and follow through to closure.
  • Participate in sales opportunities across Optiv’s entire portfolio.
  • Clearly articulate how Optiv’s technology and services portfolio meets the specific needs of client stakeholders at the leadership level.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, news, and maintain a broad understanding of the security landscape to facilitate thought leadership, support, analysis, and guidance to clients and internal Optiv groups.
  • Collaborate with service delivery to ensure the team has necessary supporting domain specialty materials that present a consistent and comprehensive approach.
  • Work with multiple client personas across the security team and other relevant personas to develop security strategy, define roadmaps, and execute on security strategy aligned with business goals, budget, and ROI metrics.
  • Maintain advisory relationships with key client stakeholders by providing thought leadership, support, information, and guidance in conjunction with sales partners.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with relevant Optiv technology partners based on client spend and Optiv focus.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or applicable work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years in an information security role, preferably as a practitioner, consulting advisor, architect, or cybersecurity leader.
  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, SOC, SIEM, SOAR, UEBA, threat intelligence platforms, incident response, or related technical fields. (Preferred: advising technical and non‑technical stakeholders on SIEM/MDR/SOAR best practices; hands‑on implementation and configuration of SIEM/SOAR in large enterprises; developing security content and reporting; knowledge transfers to clients.)
  • Experience with various SIEM products such as CrowdStrike NGSIEM, Cisco Splunk, Exabeam/LogRhythm, Google Security Ops, Microsoft Sentinel, Palo Alto XSIAM/QRadar, and concepts like data pipelining/ingestion, SOAR, data analytics, SOC operationalization.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter who does not require day‑to‑day management.
  • Ability to work in a highly adaptable, nimble team environment with responsive communication.
  • Thorough understanding of the current threat landscape, vulnerabilities, and defensive controls.
  • Strong business and technical acumen; ability to lead technology‑focused discussions.
  • Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills, including whiteboard sessions and other presentation mechanisms.
  • Strong attention to detail for reviewing statements of work (SOWs), quotes, and client deliverables.
  • Maintains broad security‑related knowledge and continuously expands expertise across the portfolio.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CRISC, CISM, C‑CISO, etc.
  • Ability to work in‑person and remotely with distributed teams in a decentralized environment.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned region (Las Vegas, Utah, San Francisco or assigned accounts) ~25 %.

Compensation

  • Total Target Compensation: $200,000 – $250,000+ annually (base salary plus uncapped bonus tied to new and renewal business).
  • Compensation is informed by responsibilities, experience, education/training, internal equity, geography, and market influences.
