Senior Data Engineer

Our Client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support data engineering and platform architecture initiatives tied to the organization’s participation in the 340B Drug Pricing Program. This program enables eligible healthcare systems to purchase outpatient medications at significantly reduced prices. These savings help expand access to care by lowering medication costs for uninsured and underinsured patients while supporting critical community health services. The right person will play a key part in designing and evolving the enterprise data platform that supports 340B analytics, compliance reporting, and operational insights. This Engineer will help architect Azure Synapse data environments, develop scalable data pipelines, and contribute to the organization’s transition toward Microsoft Fabric to enable modern, governed, and high-performance analytics across pharmacy, clinical, and financial datasets.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, data modeling, and cloud data platform development within Microsoft Azure
• Hands-on development and architecture experience with Microsoft Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and designing scalable data integration processes.
• Advanced Python and SQL skills, including ETL development, scripting, troubleshooting, query optimization, and database performance tuning.

Nice to have:

• Experience supporting healthcare data reporting, regulatory reporting, or provider performance analytics within a large health system environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex data pipelines within Azure-based data platforms.
• Architect scalable ETL and ELT pipelines to integrate data from diverse healthcare and enterprise data sources.
• Optimize performance of SQL databases and Azure data platforms, including Synapse and Microsoft Fabric.
• Mentor associate and mid-level developers and contribute to overall development best practices.
• Ensure data governance, security, and regulatory compliance standards are maintained across data environments.
• Troubleshoot complex data platform issues and lead root cause analysis for production incidents.
• Participate in cloud modernization initiatives, including projects that migrate systems and applications into Azure.
• Support management of user access, permissions, and platform security in accordance with organizational policies.
