About The Role

As an Engagement Manager in our Higher Education practice, you will be the key player on a team that guides customers through the deployment lifecycle, solution delivery, and issue management by partnering with Workday Delivery leadership, consultants, and resource management. You will be responsible for managing the customer experience through deployments, overseeing a portfolio of project engagements (both external customer‑facing deployments and internal Workday engagements), and delivering projects profitably.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Project manage one or more Workday product implementations concurrently
  • Participate in the sales cycle when requested to gather requirements, formulate delivery approach and develop a proposal/SOW
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to Professional Services resources working on your implementations
  • Ensure projects are properly planned and staffed
  • Manage and measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Work with the client PM to identify/resolve all issues that could impact project scope and/or timeframes
  • Present at Executive Steering Committee meetings
  • Ensure the client takes advantage of Workday best practices
  • Be a liaison for Professional Services when interacting with sales and/or development
  • Identify opportunities to position other service offerings
  • Ensure the client can serve as a reference upon completing their implementation
  • Assist in the transition of the customer from Professional Services to Product Support
  • Ensure the project is delivered within the budget outlined in the SOW
  • Present change orders to the client when work falls outside the scope of the SOW

Expected Results Within 12 Months

  • Become a specialist in Workday's Implementation Methodology as well as the Student Deployment Approach for use on all engagements
  • Demonstrate competency in the Workday Platform and Student product suites
  • Full project P+L ownership

About You

Basic Qualifications: Sr Engagement Manager (P4)

  • 6+ years of project managing medium and/or large enterprise ERP solutions, preferably within the Higher Education customer base
  • 6+ years of prior consulting experience (internal consultant or consulting/software company)
  • 6+ years of experience implementing Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, Ellucian, or a similar application
  • 4+ years of working knowledge with at least one of the following business areas: HCM, Financials, SIS (Student Information System)

Basic Qualifications: Principal Engagement Manager (P5)

  • 8+ years of project managing medium and/or large enterprise ERP solutions, preferably within the Higher Education customer base
  • 8+ years of prior consulting experience (internal consultant or consulting/software company)
  • 8+ years of experience implementing Workday
  • 6+ years of working knowledge with at least one of the following business areas: HCM, Financials, SIS (Student Information System)

Other Qualifications

  • Experience with project management tools (Microsoft Project, Smartsheets, etc.)
  • Experience in project management incorporating financial business processes and financial reporting
  • Experience overseeing 3rd parties on a project
  • Business development experience; previous service sales experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated executive presence with outstanding communication skills, confidence, and the ability to inspire and influence others
  • Strong influencing skills, including persuasive communication and the ability to drive consensus and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead service delivery, ensuring customer satisfaction through streamlined processes, efficient resource allocation, and a focus on meeting expectations
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, organize, and handle workload to meet scheduled completion dates and enhance productivity
  • Ability to travel 50 % or more of the time
