Are you an Individual Tax Manager? Are you tired of working with a large firm? Would you like to be in a leadership role working with an incredible team? If so, R & W Group has a great new opportunity! One of our favorite accounting firm clients is looking for a Tax Manager to join their team. In this role, you would report directly to the President/Owner and be responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, preparation, research and review process of Federal, State, and local Tax Returns for individual clients while providing guidance and leadership to staff.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and be a resource for team members.
• Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Demonstrate advanced technical aptitude of taxation and lead preparation of complex returns, including Individuals, Partnerships, Trust, Estate, & Pass-Through entities in a variety of industries.
• Work directly with clients to resolve tax questions and issues.
• Review work of Staff Accountants and provide feedback for corrective action.
• Perform tax research on complex tax issues.
• Handle all IRS and State correspondence and audits.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to staff.
• Train new employees in Firm technology, processes, and procedures.
• Present new ideas and improvements for ways of performing tasks to achieve Firm and departmental goals.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to make and support decisions regarding accounting and tax matters.
• Ability to perform and direct multiple engagements.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Ability to mentor, lead, and train staff members while adapting to the different learning styles of others.
• CCH software experience (preferred).
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Taxation
• 8+ years tax experience in a public accounting firm (at least 5 in a Managerial role).
• CPA licensed in Virginia.
