Senior Linux Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Linux Engineer is responsible for the design implementation automation and ongoing support of enterprise Linux systems This role serves as a technical leader ensuring system reliability performance security and scalability across onpremises and cloud environments The ideal candidate has deep Linux expertise strong automation skills and experience operating missioncritical systems in complex enterprise environments

Key Responsibilities

• Design build and maintain enterprise Linux systems across physical virtual and cloud platforms
• Lead system architecture decisions related to performance availability scalability and security
• Troubleshoot complex operating system storage network and application issues
• Develop and maintain automation using tools such as Ansible Puppet Chef or shell scripting
• Manage patching upgrades and lifecycle planning for Linux operating systems
• Implement and enforce system hardening security controls and compliance requirements
• Collaborate with application DevOps security and network teams to support business initiatives
• Monitor system health capacity and performance and recommend improvements
• Participate in oncall rotation and lead incident response and root cause analysis
• Create and maintain technical documentation standards and operational procedures
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across the team

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or equivalent practical experience
• 7 years of handson experience administering Linux systems in enterprise environments
• Strong experience with system troubleshooting performance tuning and capacity planning
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash Python or similar languages
• Experience with configuration management and infrastructure automation tools
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCPIP DNS firewalls and load balancing
• Experience with virtualization and container platforms such as VMware KVM Docker or Kubernetes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience administering enterprise Linux platforms with a strong preference for Oracle Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux RHEL
• Experience supporting Linux workloads in public cloud platforms such as Azure AWS or GCP
• Knowledge of CICD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus Grafana ELK or Splunk
• Industry certifications such as RHCE RHCA LFCS or equivalent
