The Position

Position Summary:

The Senior MEP Equipment Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of Owner-Furnished Contractor-Installed (OFCI) mechanical, electrical, equipment across data center construction projects. This role ensures technical compliance, cost control, schedule alignment, and risk mitigation while collaborating closely with Procurement, Strategy, Engineering (I&E), and Construction teams. The position plays a critical role in bridging preconstruction planning with project execution to ensure successful deployment of data center infrastructure. Approx. 30% travel.

Key Responsibilities

MEP Deployment & Project Execution

  • Track and maintain comprehensive documentation for all project-specific equipment, including submittals, bills of lading (BOLs), factory acceptance testing (FAT), and related records.
  • Perform technical validation of all project-specific equipment orders to ensure compliance with design standards and specifications.
  • Partner with Engineering (I&E) teams to confirm that DI (digital infrastructure) equipment is suitable for construction deployment.
  • Define and establish detailed scopes of work for all project-specific OFCI equipment orders.
  • Ensure project-specific execution aligns with standardized design, procurement, and deployment logic set by the Strategy team.

Budget, Cost Control & Financial Management

  • Own and manage the OFCI equipment budget across all assigned construction projects.
  • Oversee and manage OFCI equipment cash flow, ensuring alignment with project schedules and financial plans.
  • Review and approve change orders related to OFCI equipment after project allocation.
  • Develop a strong understanding of project financials, including equipment costs, return on investment (ROJ), and design implications.

Schedule & Planning Alignment

  • Validate that project schedules align with equipment lead times and procurement strategies established by the Strategy team.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of upcoming projects, ensuring readiness for procurement and deployment activities.
  • Support preconstruction and development (Precon/Dev) pursuit efforts in collaboration with the Strategy team.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify, track, and manage OFCI-related risks, ensuring they are captured within the EML (Enterprise Risk/Exposure Management List).
  • Document lessons learned from construction projects and ensure updates are incorporated into standard scope templates maintained by the Strategy team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Gather and provide project-specific data and insights to support Vendor Business Reviews (VBRs) led by Procurement and Strategy teams.
  • Act as a key liaison between Procurement, Engineering, Pre-Con, and Construction teams to ensure alignment across all stakeholders.

Logistics, Storage & Asset Management

  • Oversee storage, handling, and maintenance of site-specific equipment prior to installation, ensuring quality and readiness for deployment.
  • Ensure proper coordination of logistics to minimize risk of damage, delays, or cost overruns.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in MEP project management, with at least 2+ years focused on mission-critical data center environments or comparable large-scale infrastructure.
  • Proven track record managing deployment of complex mechanical and electrical equipment.
