About the Role

Legrand is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA. The Senior Mechanical Engineer provides leadership in the design, development, and validation of new products, working under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Create innovative, customizable power distribution and monitoring solutions that provide value to partners across all markets.
  • Use a systematic, analytically‑based approach to concepting, designing, and testing.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team tasked with the commercialization and launch of Legrand‑designed products.
  • Perform advanced mechanical engineering design tasks and provide feedback in support of customer‑specific customizations of Legrand products.
  • Assist in directing the testing required, verifying product performance, system integration, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, and Purchasing staff to assure product manufacturability.
  • Create mentoring relationships with other Engineers.
  • Review the work of others, including Drafters and Engineers.
  • Collaborate with certification laboratories such as UL and Intertek as well as various international agencies; provide lab testing support.
  • Assist in leading team‑based initiatives within Legrand.

Qualifications

Education

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4–7 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

  • Advanced experience with integrated system design, including mechanical and thermal simulation, 3D modeling, GD&T, DFM, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable agency standards.
  • Exceptional organizational, time‑management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer satisfaction, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management processes and principles.

Personal Qualities / Behaviors

  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
  • May occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas where personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection) is mandatory.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and communicate with others.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required, up to 10 %.
