Position Summary

The National Account Executive (NAE) will be responsible for sales of Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA’s (MZB’s) Full Portfolio in the Convenience and Grocery channel classes of trade, with responsibility for all Albertsons-Safeway Divisions, Meijer, Stater Brothers, Smart & Final, Raley’s, Schnucks, Save-A-Lot, Menards, AWG, Spartan Nash, Certco, Marc Glassman, C&S Divisions along with .

The NAE will serve as a key member of the sales team who contributes to the strategic direction of the customer relationship. This role contributes to volume, revenue, and margin growth by driving distribution and availability across key MZB-USA brands, and by developing and executing a net sales and margin strategy at retail across the MZB-USA Portfolio platforms.

The ideal candidate will bring 8-10 or more years of Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) sales experience, calling on headquarter category buyers for a national chain convenience, chain grocery, regional grocery, Distributors, and wholesalers. They will have experience building a strategic annual plan, as well as demonstrated use of syndicated data in a solution-selling environment. Knowledge of the Convenience Channel, Grocery Channel specifically Albertsons-Safeway and their Divisions considered a plus.

This individual must proactively partner with internal MZB-USA resources that influence and help drive execution of the strategic plan and assist with budget management to maximize results and return on investment. This role will be remote and will require business travel as needed to and from corporate meetings and business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relationship Building with Retailers: Cultivate and maintain effective business relationships with Chain Convenience buyers, Albertsons National Category Director, and Albertsons divisional ASM’s as well as internal key stakeholders such as MZB operations, various routes to market, and the MZB-USA leadership team.
  • Strategy Development: Develop short- and long-term joint business plans (JBPs) for Chain Convenience customers and Albertsons Divisions by engaging multi-functional internal support teams including Finance, Marketing, Brand, Shopper Insights, and the National Distributor Systems to plan, align, sell and execute the plan in accordance with account needs and MZB plan.
  • Promotional Strategy Development and Execution: Manage promotional processes from the planning stage, to development, to execution, ensuring all retailer timelines are met, deliverables are executed, and communication is timely to internal parties and the retailer.
  • KPI’s and Trade Fund Optimization: Manage promotional plans within assigned trade budgets to optimize volume, net sales, and margin.
  • Sales and Merchandising Integration: Customize consumer marketing programs utilizing Chain Convenience customer platforms and Albertsons Media Collective platforms to facilitate brand building and profitable volume growth with our aligned shopper resources.
  • Distributor Leadership: Lead, Sell and communicate key initiatives to National and Regional Distributor decision makers, ensuring alignment and execution of internal strategies and the business planning process.
  • Data-Driven Analysis: Utilize internal, syndicated and point of sale (POS) data to identify opportunities and adjust plans to meet and exceed annual goals and objectives.
  • Leadership and Adaptability: Demonstrate a winning attitude, especially in challenging environments. Leverage adaptability and resilience, while managing the complexities of retail partnerships and underperforming product lines.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Proven Experience: Minimum 10 years of CPG sales, or DSDS experience, calling on Chain Convenience Customers, National & Regional Grocery Retailers, and National Distributors & Wholesalers
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Minimum 5 years’ experience using Circana/IRI, Nielsen Scantrack, or other syndicated data to conduct market research and interpret sales data to inform and refine strategies. Strong critical thinking skills to address sales challenges and identify creative solutions for increasing product reach.
  • Resilience and Adaptability: Experience working in a challenging, results-driven environment. Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions, retailer demands, and consumer trends with a change management focus.
  • Technological Proficiency: Minimum 5 years’ experience using MS Office products like PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Exceedra is a plus.
