About the role

About

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission‑critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting‑edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your Impact

At Jacobs, we are using our solutions in rail and track to create a more connected and sustainable world – environmentally and socially. Would you be intrigued to join our team of innovators? If so, we’re seeking a Sr. Overhead Contact System (OCS) Engineer who will be responsible for the design of catenary systems for high‑speed rail, commuter rail, light rail, and streetcar systems throughout the United States. We’ll help you to grow professionally by asking you to prepare catenary reports, plans, calculations, specifications, and estimates of OCS projects. You will perform design calculations and develop specifications to fulfill our clients’ needs. You will be asked to design layout plans, wire profiles, and catenary support structures, including cantilevers, portals, head spans, OCS hardware and grounding and bonding. We’d look to you to work independently on catenary projects, as well as work within a team environment as you design new catenary systems and modifications to existing catenary systems.

By working and being a lead on a team, you’ll interact with other Jacobs’ engineers throughout the company, engineers from other firms, and project staff from various rail agencies on OCS designs. You’d be able to showcase your business acumen by assisting the development of initial design concepts and labor estimates for proposals.
