About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Safety and Reliability Engineer to lead safety, reliability, and compliance initiatives for advanced avionics systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in system safety assessments, reliability engineering, and certification processes in line with aerospace standards (ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254). This role requires a proactive professional who can ensure that aircraft systems and software meet the highest safety and reliability benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
System Safety Engineering
- Lead and execute Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Common Cause Analysis (CCA) per ARP4761.
- Define, allocate, and maintain safety requirements and safety cases across hardware and software in compliance with ARP4754A.
- Ensure traceability of safety‑critical requirements throughout the system development lifecycle.
- Apply system safety tools such as ANSYS Medini Analyze (preferred) or similar.
Reliability Engineering
- Perform reliability modelling, analysis, and predictions to evaluate system availability, MTBF, and failure rates.
- Support design‑for‑reliability activities by identifying risks, failure mechanisms, and recommending improvements.
- Apply industry standards and tools to conduct quantitative reliability analysis ensuring aviation compliance.
Certification & Compliance
- Prepare and support certification documentation including Safety Assessment Reports (SARs), compliance matrices, and related reports.
- Ensure alignment with certification standards: DO-178C (software), DO-254 (hardware), ARP4754A (systems).
- Participate in audits, reviews, and certification boards with EASA/FAA authorities.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with systems, software, and hardware teams to embed safety and reliability in the design phase.
- Mentor junior engineers on safety and reliability methodologies.
- Partner with program managers and stakeholders to meet safety milestones on schedule.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–12 years of experience in safety and reliability engineering within avionics/aerospace.
- Proven expertise in FHA, FMEA, FTA, CCA aligned with ARP4754A and ARP4761.
- Strong knowledge of DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A standards.
- Hands‑on experience with tools such as ANSYS Medini Analyze, Isograph, Reliasoft, FaultTree+, SCADE Safety.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and technical writing skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross‑functional teamwork.
