We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer to design and support a unified automation ecosystem spanning cloud and on-prem environments. This role focuses on integrating Terraform, Ansible, and OpenShift into a cohesive platform that enables consistent infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment.

The ideal candidate will act as a bridge between infrastructure and application platforms, ensuring seamless automation, operational consistency, and scalability across a hybrid environment. Candidates should also have experience working within large, geographically distributed enterprise environments with complex infrastructure responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement integrated automation solutions using Terraform (IaC), Ansible (configuration), and OpenShift (container orchestration)
• Build and maintain hybrid cloud and on-prem infrastructure, ensuring consistency and repeatability across environments
• Develop and support CI/CD and GitOps pipelines for end-to-end infrastructure and application deployments
• Align infrastructure provisioning with application deployment requirements across multiple teams
• Integrate observability, security, RBAC, and secrets management across platforms
• Troubleshoot complex issues spanning infrastructure, automation, and Kubernetes/OpenShift layers
• Support VMware and Kubernetes/OpenShift environments as part of a hybrid ecosystem
• Provide documentation, guidance, and best practices for automation workflows
• Participate in on-call support for cross-platform production issues

Required Experience

• 5–8+ years in Software Systems Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation/IaC tools
• Strong experience supporting large-scale, distributed enterprise environments

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing hybrid automation architectures across cloud and on-prem
• Hands-on OpenShift administration (cloud and/or on-prem)
• Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKAD) or OpenShift certifications
• Experience with Helm, ArgoCD, or Flux for GitOps workflows
• Familiarity with policy-as-code and governance frameworks
• Experience supporting stateful workloads (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) in Kubernetes/OpenShift
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)

Certifications (Nice to Have)

• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Ansible Automation Specialist
• Red Hat OpenShift Certification
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP – Data Center or Cloud Management)
• AWS / Azure / GCP Associate-level Certification
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Soft Skills

• Ability to connect provisioning, configuration, and orchestration workflows
• Ownership mindset focused on reliability, scalability, and documentation

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $73.00.
