The AWS Data Center Design Engineering - BIM & AI Technologies team seeks a talented and passionate Senior UX Designer to revolutionize the AECO industry through innovative BIM and Generative AI technologies. This role impacts strategy and design direction for AI-native product experiences serving architects, engineers, construction managers, and facility operators designing, building, and operating Amazon's global data center facilities.

You will work collaboratively with your design team, product managers, engineers, applied scientists, and domain experts to build future-forward experiences leveraging agentic AI capabilities. Your role is to identify opportunities and resolve gaps in product strategy, creating a connected ecosystem where AI agents, desktop tools, and cloud platforms work seamlessly to accelerate facility design.

AECO professionals require AI systems that support rather than replace professional engineering judgment within regulatory compliance and design accuracy. You approach AI as a system that must be intentionally designed, tested, and governed.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead design initiatives for revolutionary GenAI applications accelerating data center facility design workflows, focusing on AI agent behavior as a core UX artifact for AECO applications
• Craft and validate long-term design strategies through customer research, prototyping, and proposals advocating for AECO professionals using BIM technologies
• Design interconnected product experiences across desktop and cloud products, ensuring seamless integration between first-party software, third-party platforms, and AI agents supporting diverse AECO use cases with human-in-the-loop workflows
• Define AI agent personas and behavioral contracts articulating roles, responsibilities, boundaries, and escalation behavior, emphasizing design accuracy, code compliance, and confidence levels with 2D/3D geometries and digital twins
• Partner with cross-functional teams to innovate and create solutions accelerating facility design while ensuring AI-assisted experiences remain transparent, trustworthy, and grounded in engineering needs
• Leverage existing design systems while innovating with domain-specific patterns and technical visualizations, accelerating design delivery through rapid prototyping and AI-assisted design tools demonstrating complex workflows
• Ensure AI agents assist users by providing design guidance, code-compliant recommendations, and data synthesis without taking ownership of critical engineering or construction decisions requiring professional judgment and regulatory compliance

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of design experience
• Available online portfolio
• Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes
• Experience with UX design of complex workflows
• Experience acquiring user data and creating personas and journey maps
• Experience shipping AI experiences (conversational or otherwise)

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $137,800.00 - $186,400.00 USD annually. Your package includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and location.
