Role Overview
Blu Omega is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to manage the full-cycle payroll process while supporting general accounting operations. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while simultaneously contributing to the integrity of financial records through routine accounting support. The ideal candidate has experience with ADP and Deltek Costpoint, a general understanding of federal and state contracting and labor regulations, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Payroll
- Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain and reconcile payroll data between ADP and Deltek Costpoint
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including those specific to government contracts
- Administer payroll changes including new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, garnishments, and benefits deductions
- Support timekeeping processes and resolve discrepancies related to labor distribution and project charging
- Prepare payroll reports, journal entries, and reconciliations for accounting and audits
- Assist with government audits, DCAA audits, and internal reviews as needed
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Program Management teams to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
- Maintain payroll documentation in accordance with record retention requirements
Accounting
- Support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare, review, and process invoices, vendor payments, customer billings, and employee expense reports with accuracy and timeliness
- Administer and reconcile company credit card accounts, ensuring compliance with internal policies and proper documentation
- Oversee and support the company travel and expense program, including policy adherence, compliance, and reporting
- Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a government contracting environment
- 1-3 years of payroll experience, preferably within a government contracting environment
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, and payroll reporting tools
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
- Accounting degree
- Experience supporting DCAA-compliant accounting and payroll processes
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll and tax compliance
- Knowledge of government travel process and compliance
Nice to Have
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
- Experience working with timekeeping and labor distribution in a project-based environment
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint and/or ADP payroll software
