About the role
The Accounting Manager position reports to the company’s owner. This position is responsible for all day-to-day and ongoing aspects of accounting and analysis for reported entities. This includes:
- Operations Support
- Bookkeeping
- Experience in AR/AP
- Auditing and creating financial statements
- Understanding cash and accrual accounting
- Filing monthly, quarterly, and annual state/IRS forms
- Familiarity with restaurant industry, Ctuit, and POS software (TOAST)
- Balance sheet reconciliation
- Budgeting
- Tax code knowledge
- Ability to work with various levels, management through staff, in a restaurant environment
- Maintains company fixed asset tracking and depreciation. Enter Fixed Assets for assigned locations. Duties include tracking license renewals, property tax payments, vendor setup, fixed asset setup, and use tax accruals.
- Month End P&L’s including processing restaurant accruals, utility accruals, prior period invoices, performing P&L review for needed accruals/comparison and trend analysis
- Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
- Accounts Payable
- Assist Payroll Manager with filing confidential documents
- Maintain weekly cash flow reports
- General Ledger
- Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Assist the Company’s Finance, Sales and Operations Teams with special projects, reporting, inquiries, policy deployment or other business projects and initiatives.
- Other unlisted duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting
- 2 years of progressive accounting experience
- Self-motivated with strong analytical skills.
- Strong GAAP knowledge.
- Restaurant bookkeeping experience is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, QuickBooks, CTUIT, Compeat, Point of Sales (POS) preferably TOAST and relevant accounting software.
- Strong reconciliation skills for A/P, A/R, Cash Management and General Ledger.
- Ability to work in a multi-company environment is critical. Must be able to handle multiple concurrent working assignments and deadlines; hard-working and very organized; effective communication skills including the ability to interface effectively with other team members; ability to learn quickly; self-motivated and self-managed; a sense of humor and ability to function effectively in a small professional.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
CPA certification is a plus.
