Staff Accountant

Job Overview

We are approaching our 40-year milestone that has been made possible by our employees! We are seeking a Staff Accountant to become a member of our team as we continue to progress. In this role you would work closely with the Accounting Team to keep financial reporting accurate, organized and readily accessible.

Responsibilities

• Support the Close Process: Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial close activities to ensure accurate reporting.
• Prepare Journal Entries: Maintain supporting schedules and post journal entries to keep financial records accurate.
• Perform Account Reconciliations: General ledger accounts, to include investigating and correcting discrepancies.
• Reconcile Statements: Complete bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Government Reporting: Form 1099, Personal Property Returns, Form 1120H, B&O Filing, Sales and Use Filing
• Maintain Accurate Financial Records: Ensure transactions are coded correctly and financial data is organized.
• Support Internal Controls: Improve processes by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and assist with developing accounting procedures.
• Collaborate with Accounting Team: Provide necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
• Utilize Accounting Software: Sage 300 CRE to maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Accounting or Finance Degree - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
• Accounting Experience - 3 or more years of accounting experience in a construction environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles, debits and credits
• Excellent organizational skills
• Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
• Comfortable digging into financial data and resolving discrepancies
• Excel - able to work efficiently with spreadsheets
• Must be Bondable
