PeopleShare, Inc. is actively recruiting a Staff Accountant for a premier Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm located in Hamilton, NJ.

This is a dynamic, growth-oriented role providing comprehensive accounting, tax, and audit services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will work directly with firm leadership to ensure financial accuracy and compliance while benefiting from a collaborative culture that prioritizes mentorship and technical development.

  • Location: Hamilton, NJ
  • Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct-Hire
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
  • Hybrid Policy: 3 days remote / 2 days in-office (Reversed during Tax Season)
  • Compensation: $60,000 Base + Bonus ($10,000–$15,000)

Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Preparation & Filing: Prepare individual, fiduciary, corporate, and partnership tax returns, including multi-state, estate, and gift tax returns.
  • Financial Oversight: Prepare detailed financial statements and maintain accurate general ledgers through bank reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Audit & Assurance: Participate in all stages of financial statement engagements, including substantive testing and analytical procedures.
  • Compliance & Research: Review work files for accuracy and compliance; research basic to moderately complex tax concepts to provide proactive client solutions.
  • Client Engagement: Manage a diverse portfolio ranging from family-owned businesses to non-profits, providing tax consulting and responding to IRS/State tax notices.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Identify accounting discrepancies and collaborate with partners to resolve issues and improve client workflows.
  • Mentorship: Partner cross-functionally with senior leadership to accelerate professional skills and assist in training junior staff on compliance areas.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant subject is required.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of tax preparation experience within a public accounting firm is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping procedures and proficiency with industry-standard tax software and Microsoft Office.
  • Certifications: CPA or other professional accounting certifications are highly preferred.
  • Analytical Ability: Excellent numeracy and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills for direct client interaction and internal reporting.
  • Audit Background: Prior experience in audit and assurance services is a plus.
