Staff Accountant

Overview

Our client, the largest digital audiobook publisher in the world, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. With more than 90,000 titles and 10,000 new audio stories released each year, the company distributes content across leading global platforms including Audible, Spotify, Apple, Google, and Storytel.

This role will support the day-to-day accounting operations of a fast-growing digital media company operating at the intersection of publishing, entertainment, and technology. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in managing accounts receivable processes, performing reconciliations, and supporting revenue reporting while working closely with the broader accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable

• Process and monitor customer invoices and payments
• Manage aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
• Resolve billing discrepancies in collaboration with sales and customer service teams

Bank Reconciliation

• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and internal records
• Ensure timely posting of cash receipts and disbursements

Revenue Invoicing & Reporting

• Generate internal invoices to track sales activity for royalty calculations and reporting
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial reports related to revenue and receivables
• Support audit and compliance processes with accurate documentation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Foundational accounting experience/internship, ideally with exposure to accounts receivable or revenue accounting
• Solid understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data organization, reporting, and analysis
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
• Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment and can manage multiple priorities
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Experience with NetSuite is a plus
• Experience with digital content or royalty accounting is a plus
