Job Title: Staff Accountant
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end close processes. Supports financial reporting, ensures compliance with accounting standards, and assists with audits and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of complex audit working papers for the Office of Accounting (ACCT)
- Act as liaison with external auditors
- Assists in the preparation of monthly reporting
- Maintain working knowledge of current trends, policies, and techniques of the accounting field
- Establishes and maintains complete files for all assignments including contracts, agreements, other signed relevant documents and confidential information
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger, financial reporting, and audit support.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, CostPoint, Unanet, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Work Environment
- Office-based with potential for hybrid/remote flexibility (depending on company policy).
- May require occasional extended hours during month-end close, year-end, and audits.
