Position Summary
Tayyeb Hospitality is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day accounting operations of our growing hospitality group. This role is responsible for managing accounts receivable, maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling transactions, and assisting with a range of accounting functions across multiple restaurant locations.
The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial processes. Experience in restaurant or hospitality accounting is a plus.
This position reports directly to the Accounting Controller and is a full-time, in-office role based in Durham, NC.

Responsibilities:
Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities within the hospitality group
- Record daily financial transactions, including sales, expenses, payroll entries, and intercompany activity
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with accounting standards
- Maintain and organize financial documentation for audit readiness and compliance
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple business units
- Consolidate financial reports across entities, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Assist with closing processes, including month-end and year-end close
- Generate management reports highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs)
Financial Analysis & Planning
- Analyze financial performance across locations, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes for multiple concepts and departments
- Provide cost analysis on food, labor, and operational expenses to improve profitability
- Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making
Multi-Entity & Intercompany Management
- Track and reconcile intercompany transactions, ensuring proper allocation and elimination where necessary
- Maintain clear records of shared expenses, allocations, and transfers between entities
- Support ownership and leadership with consolidated financial insights across the portfolio
Hospitality Operations Support
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure accurate reporting of sales, labor, and cost of goods sold
- Monitor POS system integration and ensure proper data flow into accounting systems
- Assist with inventory accounting and cost tracking, including coordination with commissary and unit-level teams
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales tax and payroll tax filings
- Assist with audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, and system efficiency
- Assist in implementation and optimization of accounting and financial software systems
- Support documentation and standardization of accounting procedures across all entities
Qualifications
- Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Knowledge and practical application of AI tools in accounting, automation, and financial analysis
- Strong accounting foundation with experience as an accounting specialist or in a similar multi-entity environment
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Pay
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
