Position Summary

We are seeking a driven and detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience in project and construction accounting and/or property management accounting, along with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

This role is responsible for core accounting functions including accruals, expense tracking, profit and loss analysis, and month‑end close activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record journal entries, including monthly and year‑end accruals
  • Maintain and analyze profit and loss statements, identifying trends, variances, and areas of concern
  • Manage and reconcile project or property‑related expenses, ensuring accuracy and alignment with budgets
  • Support construction and project accounting activities, including job cost tracking, work‑in‑progress (WIP) schedules, and contract compliance (preferred)
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Partner with operations, property management, and project teams to provide financial insights and ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and audit schedules
  • Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to resolve accounting issues proactively

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • 2‑5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in construction/project accounting or property management accounting strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with industry‑specific software is a plus
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to think critically and solve problems proactively
