ENTER THE GAME 🎮

As a Staff Data Engineer, you will play a key role at the crossroads of technical leadership, innovation, and enablement. You will support and guide multiple data engineering squads, driving excellence in data practices while accelerating the adoption of AI-powered development. This role is central to scaling our data capabilities and building intelligent, automated systems that enhance productivity and performance across the organization.

YOUR ROLE WITHIN BETCLIC 🔥

In this role, your main missions will be:

• Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to Data Engineers across multiple squads
• Define and enforce best practices in data engineering (data modeling, pipeline design, testing, observability)
• Act as a key reference for complex architectural decisions and technical challenges
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows within the data community
• Design and promote AI agents to automate data workflows and enhance platform capabilities
• Identify and implement innovative use cases leveraging LLMs in data engineering
• Mentor and coach Data Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing
• Lead the dbt Guild by defining standards, driving adoption, and ensuring consistency across teams
• Improve dbt projects in terms of scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Organize workshops, training sessions, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives
• Contribute to the data engineering roadmap, especially around AI integration and developer productivity
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Data Leads, and Product teams to align priorities
• Support delivery by removing technical blockers and contributing to critical cross-team projects

TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT 🛠️

• Languages: Python, SQL
• Data Warehouse: Snowflake (or similar)
• Data Transformation: dbt
• Orchestration: Airflow, Dagster
• Cloud Platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure
• AI Tools: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot (or similar)
• Practices: CI/CD, testing, version control, observability

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 🔍

We are looking for passionate and curious professionals who bring kindness and a touch of enthusiasm !

This job is for you if:

• You have extensive experience in Data Engineering (typically 8+ years)
• You are highly proficient in Python and SQL, with strong experience in modern data stacks
• You have designed and maintained scalable data pipelines and architectures
• You have strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (or similar technologies)
• You have deep expertise in dbt (modeling, testing, documentation, CI/CD)
• You are experienced with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster
• You are comfortable working in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• You have a solid understanding of software engineering best practices
• You have hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools
• You are interested or experienced in building AI agents and leveraging LLMs
• You have strong mentoring and coaching abilities
• You are an excellent communicator with the ability to influence without authority
• You are proactive, pragmatic, and impact-driven
• And finally, you are fluent in English

WHAT ARE THE RECRUITMENT STEPS? 📝

If your application is selected, Mathilde will contact you within a week for a 30-minute HR pre-screening.

You will then meet one of Betclic’s Data Managers.

Next, you’ll be asked to complete a technical test.

We’ll also invite you to take the AssessFirst test (personality, motivation, and reasoning).

Finally, you’ll have a final HR interview, where we’ll review and discuss your AssessFirst results together.

To ensure the best possible candidate experience, Betclic’s recruitment process takes an average of 4 to 6 weeks.
