STAFF ENGINEER
Dedalus Group
About the role
About Dedalus
Dedalus is a world leader in health software publishing. We develop software solutions for the healthcare sector (hospitals, laboratories, patient portals...). Our flagship product ORBIS is evolving towards ORBIS U, a cloud-ready platform. The migration to ORBIS U began several years ago. ORBIS U is already running in production in parallel with ORBIS, with full interoperability using a "strangler fig" approach: modernize without breaking what exists.
What you'll accomplish
As a Staff Engineer, you will be mostly hands-on, while playing an influential role through technical quality, communication, and pedagogy. You will contribute to defining and delivering reusable components, as well as the standards and "golden paths" that enable product teams to deliver faster, cleaner, and more predictably.
Your Role
- Design and implement reusable core components (frameworks, libs, cross-functional services).
- Advance modularization / decomposition, with a realistic trajectory (compatibility, progressive migration).
- Define domain APIs & contracts: conventions, versioning, compatibility, pragmatic governance.
- Implement/strengthen configuration and feature flags (controlled rollout).
- Strengthen security (OIDC, RBAC), with a "security by design" approach.
- Contribute to event-driven architecture (Kafka) and migration topics (DB/data), without interrupting production.
- Produce examples, documentation, and coaching to industrialize adoption (without creating dependency on one person).
