Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute geotechnical field work
  • Use GIS/GPS and related technology to aid in planning and executing geotechnical field work
  • Log test borings in the field
  • Observe geotechnical‑related construction and perform materials testing
  • Prepare field reports
  • Use AutoCAD and GIS to create plan sheets and figures for reports
  • Assign and review laboratory tests
  • Interpret data and perform calculations to support geotechnical designs
  • Provide support on preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals
  • Communicate with subcontractors, project managers, and clients about project progress and milestones to facilitate project performance

Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related major from an ABET‑accredited program
  • 0‑2 years of professional experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several weeks to months away from the office
  • Positive, outgoing attitude
  • Ability to coordinate, multi‑task, and communicate with subcontractors, managers, and clients by phone, email, video‑chat, and other means of communication
  • Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self‑improvement
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, hike difficult terrain, enter trenches, climb ladders and work outside
  • Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening
  • EIT certification
  • Geotechnical‑focused undergraduate coursework is preferred
  • Prior internship or professional work in a related field (i.e., geotechnical engineering, construction, civil engineering, etc.)
  • Prior internship experience in construction materials testing
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or similar drafting programs
