Staff Product Designer
Nourish
About the role
About Us
Nourish is on a mission to improve people’s health by making it easy to eat well. Nutrition‑related chronic disease is the largest and most overlooked crisis in the world. Food can be medicine: working with a Registered Dietitian is one of the most effective interventions available, but <1 % of eligible Americans use their covered benefits.
Nourish is building an AI‑native, patient‑friendly healthcare system centered on nutrition that improves outcomes, lowers costs, and helps people live healthier, longer lives. We launched three years ago, are live in all 50 states, and already have thousands of dietitians and hundreds of thousands of patients on the platform.
We are growing quickly, have partnered with national health insurance companies and provider groups, and have raised $115 M from top‑tier VCs including JP Morgan Growth Equity, Thrive Capital, Index Ventures, Y Combinator, Maverick Ventures, Box Group, Atomico, G Squared, and Pinegrove Venture Partners. Our angel investors include world‑class healthcare founders from Oscar, Rightway Health, Headway, Spring Health, and Alto Pharmacy, as well as soccer star Alex Morgan and the founders from Olipop and Notion.
About the Role
At Nourish, we believe the quality of a product is a massive differentiator that separates great products and services from average ones. As the company scales rapidly and builds new products, we are looking for a Staff Product Designer who can raise the bar and help integrate our new offerings in a seamless way.
In this role you’ll own projects that will set the strategic foundation for how Nourish’s product offerings expand and see the projects through from conception to execution and implementation. You’ll use your expertise in design, user psychology, and data‑driven decision‑making to create intuitive experiences and raise the bar for craft.
You will join our small design team and report directly to our Head of Design. The role is full‑time and can be based in either NYC (hybrid, in‑office 3‑4 days per week) or SF (remote until we open our SF office).
Key Responsibilities
- Establish best practices for information architecture to keep the user experience consistent across expanding product offerings.
- Design best‑in‑class experiences for all users, spanning patient, provider, and growth products; iterate on existing features, create new features, and continuously test.
- Drive qualitative user research by building prototypes, conducting interviews, and creating surveys to test design hypotheses.
- Grow and maintain our design system, managing the component library to ensure efficiency and quality consistency.
- Help build a design culture focused on quality and craft, paying attention to every detail and considering every user journey.
Qualifications
- 10 + years experience designing compelling digital products.
- Deeply customer‑ and craft‑oriented; strong design fundamentals applied in messy, real‑world product environments.
- Builder mindset: comfortable taking ideas from 0 to 1, iterating quickly, and shipping.
- Ownership and proactive drive; able to work through ambiguity, form strong opinions, and influence product decisions alongside product and engineering.
- High signal‑to‑noise communication; clear, concise written and verbal explanations.
- Willingness to take on any task that moves the product forward (e.g., user interviews, copy refinement, flow improvements, deck preparation, tackling messy problems).
- Comfortable in a demanding, fast‑moving environment with high standards for quality and accountability.
- Ready to contribute extra effort when needed; thrives on grit, curiosity, and a pragmatic, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves attitude.
- Motivated by impact; energized by solving meaningful, complex problems in nutrition, chronic disease, and preventative healthcare.
