Role

• As demand for our products grows, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our team.
• You will be instrumental in designing and building scalable, web-native data platforms using expertise in Python (FastAPI, Pydantic) and cloud infrastructure Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD.

Future Workplace and Tech Stack

You will be building state-of-the-art data visualization platforms with a real impact in biomedical research from our new office building in Linz, Austria.

We rely on state-of-the-art tooling ranging from Python + FastAPI services serving data from numerous sources ingested via Airflow to TypeScript + React applications with highly scalable data visualizations. Our CI/CD pipelines on Github Actions verify, build and test Docker images deployed to our Terraform provisioned Kubernetes clusters via ArgoCD which are monitored using OpenTelemetry, LGTM, Sentry.

Responsibilities

• Defining the technical vision with agency over architectural decisions and end-to-end ownership of key parts of a state-of-the-art data analysis platform used to discover the drugs of tomorrow.
• Cooperation with leading research labs in the field of data visualisation, complemented by growth opportunities like attending conferences, obtaining certifications, mentoring young talents.
• The compensation range for this position is € 70,000 to € 85,000 per year. In practice, the compensation package will be adjusted to your qualifications and experience.

Our Expectations

Qualifications

• You have deployed and operated complex applications in cloud native environments using Terraform, K8s, Helm, and ArgoCD.
• You know how to effectively monitor performance and reliability (i.e. LGTM, Sentry, ...), diving deep into application code for optimizations.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and an independent, reliable approach to teamwork with the ability to mentor and coach all levels of engineers
• You show excellent knowledge of English
• Knowledge of Bioinformatics is a plus.

Experience

• You have a proven track record of 5+ years of driving the development of scalable software solutions, deciding on key architectural design and best practices while solving complex problems hands-on.
• You have extensive experience with APIs in Python (i.e. FastAPI), designing access to complex data models in scalable, secure and performant fashion.
