Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to lead a cross-discipline engineering team, manage significant cost accounts, and interface with Engineering and Program Management. In this fast-paced setting, you will be expected to tackle diverse assignments while collaborating closely with your team.
As a Staff Embedded Software Engineer (Integrated Product Team Lead) within the Software and Digital Technologies Organization, you will play a pivotal role in our journey towards enterprise-wide digital transformation. Utilizing Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices, we aim to elevate the delivery of critical national defense products for our warfighters. Your success will rely on your collaborative approach, transparency, and a commitment to team empowerment and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and guide cross-functional engineering teams during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.
- Oversee staffing strategies to ensure the right skills and coverage across teams.
- Plan and prioritize engineering program initiatives effectively.
- Manage and maintain Jira boards for tracking project progress, resolving issues, and addressing blockers impacting team performance.
- Develop and adhere to project budgets and timelines, using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) metrics.
- Communicate and maintain capability delivery schedules.
- Assist with proposal development and drive new program acquisition efforts.
- Interpret and act on statements of work from program leadership.
- Engage with suppliers to clarify project requirements.
- Present project progress updates to both internal and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience, Master's Degree with 10 years, or Ph.D. with 8 years in related fields; equivalent experience may substitute for education.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance is mandatory.
- Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) before starting.
- A minimum of 5 years as a Control Account Manager (CAM) overseeing EVMS projects.
- Proficient in C/C++ programming.
- Solid experience with real-time embedded software.
- Demonstrated full software lifecycle experience from specification to maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on an EMD program in a systems or software engineering role.
- Knowledge in radar mode development.
- Expertise in developing and executing project schedules.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite.
- Proficient in advanced MS Excel functions, macros, and pivots.

Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00
