Location: New York, NY or San Francisco, CA (Onsite)
Compensation: $225,000 – $285,000 + Equity + Benefits
We are hiring on behalf of a high-growth, venture-backed technology company building an AI‑driven platform that is transforming how modern revenue and go‑to‑market teams operate.
Our client is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Platform to play a key role in scaling their core backend infrastructure and shaping the technical foundation of a rapidly growing product.
About the Role
As one of the early senior backend engineers, you will be responsible for building and scaling the platform to support rapid growth and enterprise‑level customers. You will work closely with leadership to take new product ideas from concept to production while defining engineering standards and best practices.
This is a highly impactful role with ownership over core systems, infrastructure, and long‑term technical direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and scale backend systems to support high‑growth, high‑volume usage
- Own and evolve the platform architecture to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability
- Translate business needs into clear technical roadmaps in collaboration with Product, Design, and GTM teams
- Establish engineering best practices, including coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and observability
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies, including APIs, databases, and infrastructure tools
- Lead technical initiatives and mentor engineers across teams
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on new product features with a strong focus on customer impact
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership on critical projects or teams
- Strong backend expertise with a focus on scalable systems and infrastructure
- Deep experience with PostgreSQL at scale (schema design, performance tuning, replication, backups, and high availability)
- Proven track record of building and shipping production‑grade systems in high‑growth environments
- Experience working with APIs, distributed systems, and modern cloud infrastructure
- Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and edge cases
- Collaborative mindset with experience mentoring and guiding other engineers
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $225,000 – $285,000
