Role Summary
The Storage & Backup Engineer is responsible for managing, monitoring, and supporting enterprise storage and backup environments. This role ensures data availability, integrity, security, and recoverability through proactive monitoring, incident management, disaster recovery planning, and continuous service improvement in a 24x7 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of backup jobs across platforms including: • Microsoft Active Directory • Exchange • Oracle • SQL Server • Windows, VMware, and UNIX servers • Manage and support enterprise storage systems, including: • Vulnerability remediation • Capacity and performance management • Configuration management • Provisioning and zoning of new servers using SAN switches • Analyze backup software performance to meet client requirements • Monitor scheduled backups and take remedial action for failures • Provide backup and storage usage statistics and reports to management • Execute and validate Disaster Recovery (DR) test plans for: • Backup data restoration • Storage replication availability • Monitor storage usage and performance; perform capacity planning and growth forecasting • Manage storage and backup changes through the formal change management process and provide status updates • Respond promptly to incidents, investigate root causes, and provide temporary and permanent resolutions • Provide timely and accurate status updates to relevant stakeholders • Monitor and ensure compliance with agreed service levels (SLAs) • Document and maintain system configurations and operational procedures • Propose and implement corrective and preventive action plans when required • Perform system activities during off-peak hours (e.g., patching, upgrades, maintenance) • Identify, research, and resolve complex technical issues independently • Operate effectively within defined policies, procedures, and guidelines with minimal supervision • Provide 24x7 operational support as required
Experience Required
• Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in Storage and Backup operations • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise storage and backup technologies • Experience with BCP/DR (Business Continuity Plan / Disaster Recovery), including: • Data recovery and restoration • Replication monitoring and configuration

Backup Technologies:
• EMC NetWorker • Data Domain (DD Boost) • Tape Library management
Storage Technologies:
• EMC PowerMax • Dell EMC Unity • Dell ME / PowerVault
SAN & Network:
• SAN switch administration and configuration: • Brocade • Cisco • Strong zoning and fabric management experience • Network switch administration and configuration: • Dell PowerEdge switches
Additional Skills
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills • Excellent communication and reporting abilities • Ability to work in high-availability and mission-critical environments • Willingness to support 24x7 operations and off-hours maintenance activities
