The position belongs to the Mission Planning group, which is concerned with the development and construction of systems for planning the activities of ground segments as well as satellites in orbit and their payloads. Future Earth observation missions, support for constellations including optical communication, or the operation of a rover on other planets and moons present particular challenges. These requirements must be analyzed, feasibility demonstrated, the mission planning software system implemented, and operated after satellite launch. Complex interrelationships and dependencies must be handled when building a mission planning software system and its interactions via internal and external interfaces, as well as the underlying user requirements. The success of the mission critically depends on the correct combination of the respective concepts, systems, and associated procedures. A significant part is the development and continuous further development of generic components and services, as well as the testing of new technologies.

Your Tasks

• Development of templates for Gitlab CI Jobs for the programming languages used at GSOC
• Programming of Python Tools to improve artifact management
• Improvement of the documentation of CI processes and solutions for artifact management
• Development of Typescript Plugins for the artifact manager

The tasks can be processed by arrangement as a student assistant or as part of a student internship or in conjunction with a thesis (Bachelor/Master).

What you bring

• You are enrolled in a scientific university degree program (Bachelor/Master) and preferably study Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a comparable degree program
• You have experience in programming with Python, Javascript, Typescript or Java
• You have good language skills in English and German (both spoken and written)
• You have experience with Git and Gitlab/Github

Remuneration is based on qualification and task assignment up to pay group 5 TVöD (allowance for internships may differ).
