Sustaining Engineering Director

Our client, an international medical device manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Sustaining Engineering Director to lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team within a regulated product environment. Please note that it is a hybrid role - office presence is required to support collaboration and team development. Location details will be shared with only the shortlisted candidates. The role focuses on strong leadership across the engineering function while ensuring effective collaboration with senior management and other departments. Responsibilities include overseeing all engineering activities related to existing and new products; leading and developing a team of engineers, overseeing sustaining engineering and product improvements, improving internal processes and documentation practices, and supporting the company’s product portfolio strategy. The role reports to the Managing Director and manages a small team. Requirements: • Strong Engineering background and education • Proven experience in sustaining engineering, product lifecycle management, or engineering support within a regulated manufacturing environment. • Previous experience in the medical device sector is a must (deep knowledge of ISO 14971, ISO 13485, MDR, FDA, etc.) • Demonstrated track record in leading cross‑functional engineering projects, engineering and R&D teams. • Strong people leadership experience • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. • Ability to drive cultural and operational improvements across the organisation. • Availability to be in the office at least 3 days per week • Fluent German and English are required If you are interested in discussing this opportunity confidentially, please send your CV in English.
