About the role

About JLL's Energy Advisory Practice

JLL's Energy Advisory (EA) practice delivers comprehensive energy solutions that enhance commercial real estate value, improve operational performance, and advance sustainability goals. We support institutional investors, asset owners, developers, and corporate occupiers as they navigate the new reality of energy's role in real estate-transforming energy from a passive utility into a strategic portfolio priority. Our team provides innovative solutions that optimize asset performance, energy procurement, and sustainability across the full spectrum of energy infrastructure opportunities, from onsite generation and storage to advanced demand response, procurement, and decarbonization.

What this job involves:

JLL Energy Advisory is seeking a senior leader to drive distributed energy resource (DER) advisory and origination across our large commercial and industrial (C&I) and institutional investor client base. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Energy Solutions, the SVP, Energy Solutions & Origination will own the full lifecycle of energy advisory engagements - from strategic positioning and feasibility through procurement, structuring, and project implementation - while actively building the practice's external profile, partnerships, and pipeline.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead DER advisory engagements for institutional real estate investors and large C&I clients, spanning behind-the-meter (BTM) and front-of-the-meter (FTM) energy solutions including solar, battery storage, microgrids, EV infrastructure, and power procurement.
  • Manage client engagements from initial strategy, proposal development, and feasibility assessment through technology selection, procurement, financial structuring, and implementation oversight.
  • Originate new client opportunities through proactive outreach, referral networks, industry events, and thought leadership.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of energy advisory professionals.
  • Represent JLL Energy Advisory at industry conferences, forums, and in media - serving as a credible external voice on energy markets, DER economics, and grid resilience.
  • Coordinate project proposals, solutioning, and execution of projects with the sales enablement and project delivery teams.
  • Manage internal stakeholder relationships across JLL's broader platform (Capital Markets, Property Management, ESG) to drive cross-functional deal flow.
  • Support clients in achieving energy cost reduction, resilience, decarbonization, and value creation objectives through integrated energy strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in energy, engineering, finance, or business preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in energy markets, DER project development, energy advisory, or related fields.
  • Deep fluency in C&I and/or institutional real estate energy economics, including BTM solar and storage, PPAs/VPPAs, demand management, and grid services.
  • Demonstrated track record originating and closing energy advisory or project development engagements.
  • Experience managing client relationships with institutional investors, REITs, or large corporate energy users.
  • Strong financial modeling and commercial structuring skills; familiarity with ITC/PTC, IRA incentives, and project finance structures a plus.
  • Existing relationships within the C&I energy ecosystem (developers, utilities, ISO/RTOs, ESCOs, technology providers).
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to C-suite and investment committee audiences.
