Key Responsibilities

Systems Engineering & Operations

  • Perform senior‑level systems engineering and administration in on‑premises and cloud (Azure/M365) environments.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and optimise servers, storage, and networked systems.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity and implement proactive improvements.
  • Provide escalation (Tier 3/4) support for complex infrastructure and systems issues.

Federal Compliance & Security

  • Apply NIST security controls and FISMA directives to all supported systems.
  • Identify gaps in FISMA implementation and develop documented remediation plans.
  • Develop, apply, and maintain STIG configuration baselines for Windows, Linux, and virtualised environments.
  • Support endpoint security, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening activities in coordination with cybersecurity teams.

Identity, Cloud & Collaboration Services

  • Manage and support Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments, including:
    • Conditional Access
    • Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA)
    • Identity auditing and access reviews
  • Support Azure tenant configuration in alignment with federal security requirements.
  • Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorisation models.

Architecture, Documentation & Advisory Support

  • Evaluate existing NIGC IT systems architecture and recommend corrective or optimisation actions.
  • Provide written technical recommendations to System Owners regarding priorities, risks, and dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Support IT audits, assessments

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Active Public Trust clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 6–8+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering or IT infrastructure roles.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with:
    • Windows Server and Linux
    • Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
    • Entra ID / Active Directory
    • VMware or equivalent virtualisation platforms
    • Cisco networking and firewalls
  • Demonstrated experience supporting federal IT compliance frameworks (NIST, FISMA)
