SMX is actively seeking a qualified Journeyman System Security Engineer (SSE) to support the Unmanned Carrier Aviation Program Office (PMA-268). Join us at Patuxent River Naval Air Station where you'll contribute to our Cybersecurity Program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the PMA-268 Cyber Leads in executing the Cybersecurity Program:
  • Draft and review Program Documentation, Policies, and Plans.
  • Coordinate system security posture changes with Cyber Leads.
• Lead System Security Engineering activities within the Integrated Product Team (IPT):
  • Oversee all cybersecurity activities.
  • Review system documentation and maintain Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge.
  • Engage with leadership to address cybersecurity impacts on program cost, schedule, or performance.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) for significant efforts.
  • Provide input for Statements of Work (SOWs), Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs).
  • Identify, define, and document system security requirements for product specifications.
  • Conduct critical function analysis and identify Mission Essential Functions (MEF).
  • Lead Critical Program Information (CPI) assessments.
  • Understand vulnerabilities and attack vectors impacting system cybersecurity.
  • Recommend security solutions to PMA-268 Cyber Leads.
  • Support Cyber Survivability Risk Assessments (CSRA) and collaborate on cybersecurity artifacts.
  • Guide implementation of DFIA through enclave boundary protection requirements.
  • Oversee system security certification and registration activities.
• Manage IPT cybersecurity activities:
  • Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders to address actions required for cybersecurity efforts promptly.
• Lead the IPT System Security Engineering Working Group (SSEWG):
  • Collaborate with contractors and organizations on IPT cybersecurity efforts.
  • Maintain awareness of system authorizations.
  • Review all IPT cybersecurity CDRLs.
  • Participate in change management processes to safeguard cybersecurity posture.
  • Coordinate risk management activities with Cyber and Product Risk Managers.
• Assist the ISSO with various activities, including:
  • Defining Information Types in collaboration with engineering.
  • Approving the initial Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) impact levels.
  • Reviewing and mitigating concerning issues within the Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M).
  • Analyzing hardware/software lists to identify potential issues.

Team Execution Expectations

• Log into Microsoft Teams daily with a headset for meetings.
• Work in the PMA-268 Program Office every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday unless previously coordinated.
• Provide regular updates on:
  • Cyber Status Slide (weekly)
  • Microsoft Planner Task Status (weekly)
  • Task Tracker (weekly)
  • Cyber Schedule (biweekly)

Required Skills & Experience

• Clearance Required: Secret
• US Citizenship is mandatory for DoD contracts
• Bachelor's degree in Technical or Scientific field
• Minimum of seven years of cyber-related experience, preferably in a DoD context.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience in program office settings is highly desired.
• Aviation engineering experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits
