They will develop and define system design features to meet Customer requirements. They will analyze and evaluate customer requirements and verify compliance with our product system technical requirements. They will develop and define System and Subsystems requirements to fulfill specific customer requirements on the project. They will communicate and gain acceptance of the design with the customer and internal stakeholders.

The incumbent is accountable for performing the design work independently, within cost and schedule limits, as defined in approved work packages. The incumbent will provide leadership within the team to perform system design activities to deliver a high quality and safe guideway design, on time, at the lowest cost and meeting customer requirements. The incumbent will also adapt system design processes to meet the needs of the project deployment and industry standards and ensure this process is followed by the team.

They are able to perform the role of Work Package Manager, to organize and assign work to the system engineers on the project, as well as managing (budget and schedule) the system design work for the project.

  • Responsible for definition, stabilizing & maintaining of the Solution architecture for Bids and Projects throughout the development lifecycle in collaboration with the PDA and SEM.
  • Drives and fosters innovative solutions to meet customer requirements in compliance with product / system technical strategy.
  • Leading Integrated Design Team (IDT) to create the solution architecture through trade-offs between stakeholders' expectations, technical & technological solutions and cost , risks and schedule; documents associated artefacts (OCD, SSS, SSDD, ICD, IRS, architecture justification in D&JF) and approves resulting lower level specifications (whether internal or external).
  • Approves the bid/project engineering technical reviews and deliverables
  • Contributes to the solution development cycle and co-engineering approach definition.
  • Leads throughout the project life cycle including the oversight of the proper requirements' allocation, flow-down and decomposition; management of performance assessment and critical parameters, interface definition, and arbitrates technically between the various contributors (whether internal or external).
  • Contributes to technical specification definition and to technical assessment and down-selection of the subcontractors for planed subsystem acquisition.
  • Act as PDA delegate, or acting PDA when necessary
  • Ensures standardization and drives re-use wherever possible.
  • Prepares and supports customer requirements compliance assessment, gap analysis, and architecture design.
  • Operational design limits are evaluated and defined; converts Customer (internal and/or external) requirements into conceptual designs and prepares associated documentation by performing operational analyses, simulations and technical trade-off studies evaluating alternative design configurations and functional features.
  • Similarly creates new concepts or modifies existing concepts to fulfil customer requirements.
  • Prepares system, subsystem, and interface requirement specifications by analyzing and decomposing modelling, refining customer requirements and typical train control domain requirements.
  • Prepares Operational Concept Document.
  • Prepares and supports bids and proposals, including customer requirements compliance assessment, gap analysis, architecture design, simulation, trade-off of key features, estimation, etc.
  • Presents technical design and reports to customers and/or other engineering/management groups in clear, complete, concise, and non-ambiguous terms.
  • Defines or proposes updates of processes and standards covering the work and its products based on the knowledge of systems engineering and/or his technical specialty.
